TOPIC: Moving from Nanjing

Moving from Nanjing 3 years 1 month ago #443

I am getting ready to move from Nanjing to Shanghai. I wonder if anyone can recommend a moving service to pick up my items (clothes, luggage, small home goods) and deliver them to my new home in Shanghai. I'm paying for it, so I can't afford something pricey. I just need something simple, but reliable. Thanks for the help!

What's your budget? I will ask around. if it is just a small truck load it shouldn't be that much, i would guess around 800 RMB.

My wife and I brought all of our things from Tianjin to Nanjing and it was only 1500 RMB.

We moved 3 times now. It does not look that the distance matters. The price depends on the Volume. The prices are between 750-785 rmb per CBM. This is including packing material and packing. I can recomend CMR and Unigroup Worldwide. If you don't have big Value Furnitures, give the Insurance a miss.

Thanks for the help! I don't really have too much stuff, so I wouldn't need someone to pack up my things, just someone to help load it in a truck/van, drive it to Shanghai and unload it. Is there something like that in town?

That's the only Moving help I know. But just contact CMR's James Wang and ask for a quotation. You still can negotiate the details. i.e. packing yourself etc. There must be a base price for the service.

I work for Crown Relocations here in Nanjing and would like to provide some advice in regards to moving. Every time a person moves, it is very important to ask the relocation company for a survey to gauge the amount of goods (or volume like Cleo said below) you may need to relocate. The survey is a free estimate performed in your home. When it is a move overseas, we also advise you on customs exporting from China and the destination country. This is important since every country has different restrictions which may cause duties (or fines).

In regards to a move within China or domestic move, distance does matter which of course means a move to Shanghai would be cheaper than a move to Guangzhou.

I suggest you have a survey performed because every move is different and there is no one lump sum cost. Just like the price for a move to Shanghai and Guangzhou are different, so is a move from China to Germany or the US (as well as different cities).

If you have any questions for your move, you can contact me.
